Staying Focused – How You Can Do It!

Are you feeling overwhelmed surrounded by numerous offers that seem to multiply with each passing day?

Are you already in a program, but you just can’t seem to get traction, not knowing where to start or which training video to watch next?

You’re not alone. Most entering the internet marketing business or who are already in the business are saturated with offers and information. Stopping the spiral depends on one characteristic, discipline. Whether you’re a start up or already in the business, it is critical that you use restraint from being distracted by all the noise around you. Going in too many directions will defeat your attempts to be in business for yourself.

Effectively managing your time becomes more vital compared to when you had your ‘job’. Keep in mind that this is a business and not a hobby. It is not a get rich scheme. Your financial freedom is at stake.

All easier said then done, right? Well he are examples of some specific actions you will need to take if you’re challenged with overwhelm and focus:

·Develop a plan. This is critical. You have to know where you want to go before drawing the map to get there. The plan should be no less than a year to start. Everything you do either fits the plan or is tossed out, ignored. Every deviation needs to be seriously analyzed. If you truly need to, adjust the plan but only do so on rare occasions and then reforecast in it’s entirety.

·Create a Daily Mode of Operations (DMO). This should guide your specific activities and tasks that fall within the dimensions of the plan. If you are in pursuit of something that falls outside the scope of your plan, than stop doing it, or better yet, don’t start. Your DMO is by far the most important instrument you will use to run your business. It keeps you on track. If a training opportunity presents itself in your inbox, look at your DMO and if it doesn’t relate to anything on your list, then pay it no more attention than to hit the delete key. This can be tough when you’re being offered the solution to all your problems or the best opportunity yet, but you need to use your discipline.

·Set priorities. This should be done when building your DMO. On it should not be, ‘check email’. But don’t spend a lot of time on this in terms of what comes first, second and so on. It capture everything you must get done in a given day. As long as it is accounted for in the DMO, it will get done. Rule of thumb -> 80% money making activities, 20% seminars, articles and other education.

Some easy tips.:

·Take your name off of distribution lists. Unsubscribe from other offers, even if from industry leaders, to avoid the temptation. You’ve got your plan and DMO, nurture them.

·Limit the amount of time you spend on the internet, other than for running your business. If you’re being diverted in too many directions, than you might be wasting valuable time that should be spent on money making activities for your business.

·Spend time building trusting relationships with the people on your list. This is so important. Conversions won’t happen otherwise. If you are doing this properly, you’re not going to have time to be distracted by other offers.

·Lastly, think of the plan for your business like building a house. You create a plan, a blueprint, and steps are broken down to execute. If absolutely necessary, the blueprint can be altered but not without first examining the overall impact any one change can make. However, once the foundation is poured, that’s it. If another builder comes along with the offer of a better plan, it’s too late. You’re already on your way. You now must focus on the successful building of the structure.

I know it’s not easy. I definitely get it. I’ve paid the price over the last several years for chasing the next best opportunity or buying the next best course. In doing so, my business sat stagnant. Stay focused on whichever opportunity you choose. Spend time constructing your business. Create a plan and DMO. Realize success can be your’s!
